Pigment and Color Technology

About Our Group

The Pigment and Color Technology Group in GAM Lab is a leading research team dedicated to studying and advancing the field of pigments and color technology. With a focus on innovation and practical applications, the group conducts extensive research on various aspects of pigments and colorants, including their synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation.

The team is comprised of highly skilled scientists and technicians who work collaboratively to develop cutting-edge pigment technologies to meet industry demands and create sustainable solutions.

“By combining their expertise in material science, chemistry, and engineering, the Pigment and Color Technology Group aims to contribute to the development of vibrant and durable colorants for a wide range of applications, such as coatings, plastics, inks, textiles, and cosmetics”

Aims & Scope

This Group has worked on pigments and color technology since 2018 and has published some research papers about pigments and colorants. The Group succeeded in gaining 3 industry-funded researches in the field of inorganic pigments preparation which were well done at TRL level of 4 to 6. It focused on the synthesis of Barium Sulfate as a white pigment, Iron Oxide as a colored pigment (Red, Black, and Yellow), and Vanadyl Sulfate as a Blue pigment from primary and secondary resources. The group has published one national patent on the purification of ochrea as Red pigment. Dr. Ghazitabar was awarded the top inventor prize in 2022 from the Alborz Prize Foundation for this patent.

The main scope of the group is about extraction of inorganic pigments by metallurgical process. The research interests include:
